Description Oak veneered MDF signs – beautiful wooden signs Our oak veneered wooden signs are made from an engineered board that is 6mm thick and comprised of MDF with a real oak veneer. The composite construction means these boards will remain flat, with none of the movement associated with a typical solid wooden board, but with a visible face that is real oak. It also means we can offer beautiful wooden signs, fully printed and/or laser engraved, at a much lower cost than you might expect. Printed wooden signs and white ink We can fully print oak veneered MDF – with or without white ink behind the CMYK colours. Without white ink, because the substrate surface is not white, the colours will be somewhat subdued, but you will also get the maximum amount of woodgrain showing through. With white ink printed behind the CMYK, the colours will be fully opaque, bold and rich, but the woodgrain will not show through as much. If you choose to print with white ink, we can flood coat the entire board with white ink underneath the CMYK colours, or we can “spot” print the white ink. This means we only print the white ink behind the CMYK in the areas that you specify. No White Ink Flood White Ink Spot White Ink Laser engraving We can also laser engrave your wooden sign. You can choose a laser engraving instead of the print, or you can combine both on the same sign. There are two kinds of laser engraving – vector and raster… Vector engraving is when we engrave the outline of an object in your artwork. The laser follows the outline in a single pass. This is fast and therefore cheaper. Raster engraving is where the object in your artwork is fully “filled” in. The laser must pass back and forth many times to fully engrave the interior of the object. This is slow and therefore more expensive. Vector Engraving Raster Engraving We can combine vector and raster engraving on the same sign.
