Description The ship plane by Kunz is a reproduction of the Stanley #113. Also known as a radius or compass plane, it has an adjustable sole to plane convex or concave surfaces such as chairs, boats, or other curved work. It has a spring steel sole which adjusts by means of the front knob which activates a gear mechanism on the side of the plane. The 44mm (1 3/4″) German tool steel iron is hardened to Rc61 and is bedded at 55 degrees. The sole is 260mm (10 1/4″) long. Final honing of the iron to suit the user’s preference is recommended. An HSS iron is also available.
