School Lectures

Compagnia di Chiaravalle wishes to introduce various elements of the life of the medieval man not through textbooks, but with first hand experience.
After being seated next to knights in armour, mixed with the public, the students will begin their voyage through time taking directly part in the ceremony of ordination of a knight.
After that, as squires, some of the students will participate in the complete dress-up of a XIII century warrior.
An exposition of weaponry will then follow, along with a brief explanation an the evolution of armour between the XII and XIV century.
With the assistance of the Compagnia, the children will be invited to try on various medieval helms.
With the  help of one or more damsels other aspects of the times way of living will be illustrated, such as clothing, food and music.
A tasting of spelt-flawer bread, baked using a traditional medieval recipe, may be asked for.
The lectures will be interspersed by various kinds of medieval duels, ranging from the knightly tournament to the judicial duel, to which the
audience will assist playing the part of the medieval spectators. These duels, obviously non-bloody, will give the opportunity to discuss the themes of loyalty and  respect for the opponent.
The lecture will end leaving ample space to any kind of questions, by students and teachers alike.

The lesson will have a typical music background.

The lecture will be about two hours long but may vary on the bases of the children’s age.
