In
the re-enactments to which it takes part, Compagnia di Chiaravalle offers
fencing exhibitions using techniques, arms and armour reconstructed
from the XII-XIII century. These bouts are usually introduced or
followed by brief explanations on the evolution of weaponry in the
middle ages. Along with "military" facts we can also give information
about the figure of the knight and the middle ages in general. During
these exhibitions we also enjoy for our public to participate directly
in the arming of the knights, as squires, or to be armed themselves, in
order to get the feeling of the weight and "physicality" of medieval
armour.
On special occasions the Compagnia
di Chiaravalle is also able to organize small or medium
sized meleés between groups of men-at-arms.
